Each stay has been chosen for intimacy rather than scale: Hemingways Nairobi in Karen, Tortilis Camp beneath Africa’s tallest peak, a lakeside retreat above Naivasha’s waters, and Elephant Pepper Camp on private conservancy land in the Mara. A private guide and vehicle accompany you throughout, so the rhythm of each day belongs to you alone, an early rise for elephants at dawn, a slow afternoon on the water, a sundowner poured as the plains turn amber.

Karibu Kenya. Landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your Ayal safari host meets you personally for the private transfer into Karen, Nairobi’s leafy suburb of colonial-era manor houses beneath the Ngong Hills. Hemingways Nairobi offers spacious suites and unhurried grounds, the ideal place to recover from a long flight before the safari begins in earnest. Spend the afternoon at leisure, or arrange a spa treatment, afternoon tea, a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, or an introduction to the resident herd at the Giraffe Centre.
After breakfast, the road runs through Kenya’s tea and coffee country toward Amboseli, arriving in time for lunch at Tortilis Camp, a scatter of canvas suites beneath acacia trees, Kilimanjaro rising directly ahead. Your first game drive follows in the afternoon, tracking the park’s renowned elephant herds against a backdrop of lion, cheetah, giraffe, buffalo and zebra. The day closes with drinks around the fire and dinner beneath an open sky.
Rise before dawn for a game drive as first light catches Kilimanjaro’s snow line, then pause for a bush breakfast laid out on the open plain — table, chairs, a full spread, and nothing between you and the mountain. The afternoon is yours to rest at camp before a second game drive, timed for the golden hour that makes Amboseli’s elephants and their mountain backdrop a favourite among photographers. Dinner follows under the stars.
After breakfast, the route climbs into the Great Rift Valley before descending toward the freshwater expanse of Lake Naivasha. Following lunch at your lakeside lodge, board a private boat for a quiet crossing — hippos surfacing close by, fish eagles overhead, and Crescent Island visible from the water. Dinner is served as the light fades over the lake.
Breakfast is followed by the journey to the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most storied wildlife reserve. Arrive at Elephant Pepper Camp for lunch and time to settle into your tented suite before the afternoon’s first game drive across grassland known for its density of predators — lion, leopard, cheetah — alongside elephant, rhino and wide herds of plains game. As the sun drops, a private sundowner is set out overlooking the grasslands, followed by dinner around the campfire.
An early start makes the most of the Mara’s peak wildlife activity, before returning to camp for breakfast and a quiet late morning. In the afternoon, visit a Maasai homestead for an introduction to a culture that has shaped this land for centuries — traditional dance, storytelling, and a look at daily life within the boma. A final game drive precedes a farewell dinner at camp.
After a final breakfast overlooking the plains, depart for Nairobi, with transfer either to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, or to a Nairobi hotel of your choosing. You leave with six days of Kenya behind you — its mountains, its water, its grasslands, and the people who call it home.
